Our blog used the Ruffle emulator to run games. After the end of Adobe Flash Player in 2020, Ruffle was an attempt to keep Flash content alive on the web. But Ruffle is not perfect. Most games experience lag, and some are unplayable due to bugs that compromise progress while running. But all is not lost!
Meet Flash Player Projector, a simple, light, and efficient program that allows you to run your Flash game directly on your PC, as long as you have the game file, Shockwave Flash, that is, a .SWF file.
How to use the program?
1. Install here. Select the "Download the Flash Player projector" option.
2. It's an executable file, so once you download it and click the icon (flashplayer_32_sa) in your downloads folder, the program will open.
3. Now Click > File > Open... > Browse..., select your Flash game file and click Ok.
4. Play!
Where can I get the game file I want to play?
On our blog. Go to the post of the game you want to play, and find the link to download the SWF file. It's right below the link to this tutorial in the post.
Example: "SWF File of Cake Mania Game".
You'll notice how any game runs much more smoothly in this program compared to playing online, precisely because it's the ideal tool for running this type of file.
You can create a folder with a collection of your favorite games to play anytime in the player.
And don't worry, flash games are usually quite small in size and won't take up much space on your computer's memory.
Flash Player Projector has a feature that saves your recently played games, so you don't have to search for the file in the folder every time. Just open the program and click on "File". The list will be right below.
In addition, Flash Player has a save function, so you can always continue the game from where you left off.
What if I want to reset my progress?
Below is a tutorial. Skip if it doesn't matter to you right now.
1. Close the game and the Flash Player Projector.
2. Press Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
3. Copy and paste %APPDATA%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects. Click OK.
4. Open the folder with the random name (made of letters and numbers).
5. Look for a folder named localhost.
6. Navigate through the folders until you find the swf folder for your game, a folder that usually has a name similar to the game title.
7. If you're not sure, open Flash Projector, click on File and check the list of recently opened games. It contains the names of your flash files.
8. Look for the last name in the address, ending with swf. Something like, for example, /BurgerRestaurant.swf.
9. Open the correct folder and delete the .sol file. This is the file responsible for storing your game progress.
10. And it's done. When you restart the game, your progress will be completely reset!
And, that's all! This was the tutorial for Flash Player Projector, totally safe and appropriate for all public, completely free of ads or intrusive links.
I hope this helps you have an even cozier and more relaxing experience with flash games. ♡
